Patient-Friendly Summary
Dr. Usman Hussain is a Podiatry (with a focus on General Podiatry, Diabetic foot care, Wound Care, Nail surgery, MSK) specialist with 7+ years of experience. They are committed to clear communication, evidence-based care, and a respectful patient experience.
My expertise includes high-risk foot assessment, wound care, and the fabrication of bespoke offloading devices to accommodate wounds and reduce pressure to support healing. I assess and treat a wide range of lower limb musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, including Pes planus/ Cavus deformities, hallux valgus, ankle deformities and instability, gait abnormalities, plantar fasciitis, and insertional and non-insertional Achilles tendinopathy. Treatment plans incorporate footwear assessments and the prescription of medical-grade footwear and insoles to accommodate deformities, optimise biomechanics, strapping and shockwave therapy to help and reduce pain. I provide general and advanced foot care, including the treatment of corns, callus, and verrucae using cryotherapy and other appropriate treatment modalities, the management of complex nail conditions, and surgical nail procedures (nail surgery) where clinically indicated. I have also contributed to the education and training of nursing staff within the UK, particularly in diabetic foot assessments, risk stratification, and early identification of complications.
I adopt a holistic, patient-centred approach, considering the patient’s medical history, mobility, lifestyle, and risk factors when developing individualised management plans. I place strong emphasis on patient education, prevention, and shared decision-making, particularly when supporting diabetic, high-risk, and vulnerable patients. Through effective MDT collaboration and clear communication, I aim to deliver safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care that supports wound healing, reduces complications, and improves long-term foot health and mobility.
